Backsberg Estate Cellars

Nestled on the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain, equidistant to the towns of Stellenbosch, Franschhoek and Paarl, Backsberg Estate Cellars are a winery at heart with over 100 years of experience

The Back family business was founded by Charles Louis Back, who came to South Africa from Lithuania, in 1902 to start this wine estate. In 2005 the Back family started growing blueberries as one of the first growers for BerryWorld South Africa.

In 2006, Backsberg became South Africa’s first certified carbon neutral winery and the family continues to farm blueberries in this manner. Backsberg is one of nearly 40 WWF-SA Conservation Champions with over 10% of the farm’s land having been set aside for the conservation of indigenous fauna and flora. Backsberg places great importance on a sustainable future for all.

Winterwood Farms, UK

Winterwood Farms is a family business, owned and run by Stephen Taylor and his wife Jackie. Established in 1978, Winterwood Farms was one of the first to grow raspberries and blackberries in polytunnels in the UK. From small beginnings, the company now has 12 farms in 4 countries and is a specialist blueberry producer. The company operates as a family business, run by the owners, with dedicated staff central to its continued growth.

Stephen and his team produce significant quantities of blueberries for BerryWorld consumers to enjoy. The Winterwood team want to delight each consumer when they open a punnet; they carefully grow and handpick the best varieties for every BerryWorld punnet.

Winterwood Farms are BRC, Global Gap, Red Tractor, Sedex, LEAF, and Nuture certified, showing that berries have been grown ethically and sustainably with care for the environment.

Chiltern Farms

Chiltern Farms is a 4th generation family business which was established by John and Pauline Mudge and is located in Vyeboom.

The family farm has its roots in apples and pears but started growing berries for BerryWorld in the early 1990s, with large scale supply from 2005 onwards.

Chiltern Farms have an extensive blueberry season, supplying blueberries that burst with goodness from June to February.

Edward Vinson, UK

Edward Vinson have been growing berries for over 150 years in the South East of England. With such a long history in growing berries, Edward Vinson started a berry breeding programme in 1986 which has successfully discovered a range of berries that BerryWorld pack under our exclusive label.

Today the Edward Vinson fruit farm grows strawberries, raspberries, blueberries and blackberries that are bursting with goodness, grown under sunny Kent skies.

Edward Vinson is Global Gap, Red Tractor, Nurture, Organic Certificate, Leaf, SEDEX certified, showing that berries have been grown ethically and sustainably with care for the environment.

Vermeulen Zachtfruit

Onze Brabantse teler Vermeulen heeft in 2000 het roer omgegooid en is van het telen van komkommers en tomaten overgestapt naar het telen van aardbeien. Een goede keuze, want ze zijn gegroeid van één locatie naar vijf locaties met behoorlijk wat grond. Alle locaties van Vermeulen zijn te vinden in Noord-Brabant.

In de kassen van Vermeulen Zachtfruit telen ze het overheerlijke aardbeienras Elsanta.

Deze zomerzoete aardbeien zijn het hele jaar verkrijgbaar.

Qualiprim was founded in 1990 by Cherkaoui Benouardi in the heart of Moroccan growing country. Qualiprim have 26 farms located in Souss, a southern region of Morocco near Agadir and have over 30 years of experience in growing quality fresh produce.

Qualiprim provide BerryWorld with blueberries and raspberries that are bursting with goodness, grown under sunny Moroccan skies.

Summer Berry Company, UK & Portugal

The Summer Berry Company brings the taste of the summer all year round with farms both in Sussex and in Portugal, with the initial seeds of their business starting way back in 1966.

With industry leading glasshouse and field growing systems that allow picking between February and December in the UK and all year round in Portugal. The international nature of their farms allows The Summer Berry Company an extended period of growing to delight our BerryWorld for longer.

The Summer Berry Company are one of our largest growers and produce significant quantities of strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries for BerryWorld consumers to enjoy. Their highly experienced team focus on producing great tasting berries on farms that buzz with biodiversity and lead the way in sustainable farming. Their aim is to delight every customer when they open a punnet of their fruit.

R & J Emery, UK

R & J Emery is a partnership of father Richard Emery and son James Emery. The family run farm has been growing in Hampshire, UK since 1966 starting in salad crops before moving to berries in 1993. Rebecca and Peter Emery are also working within the family business alongside an experienced team.

The Emery family team want to delight each consumer when they open a punnet; they carefully grow and handpick the best varieties for every BerryWorld pack.

Tasker Partnership, UK

Tasker Partnership is a family owned farm which has been growing berries since 1995. The Tasker Partnership has been supplying BerryWorld with delicious strawberries and raspberries since 2003. Today, the farm is managed by Stephen & Jenny Tasker.​

The farm is working towards being carbon neutral with an on site wind turbine, solar power, biomass boiler and a new state of the art packhouse. Which means you can be sure BerryWorld berries from Tasker Partnership are truly sustainalicious!

Established in 1993, BerryWorld South Africa is now the largest blueberry exporter in South Africa and works with an extensive family of growers across South Africa and Zimbabwe.

Withers Farm, UK

Established in Ledbury, Herefordshire in 1958, Withers Farm has been producing berries since 1968 where Allen Leeds began with a smallholding of 18 acres of which he grew blackcurrants and apples then, shortly after started to grow strawberries. When Allen’s son George took over the business he expanded and diversified; blueberries were first planted in 2006 and then 2012 saw the pioneering of a new fruit to be grown in the UK; the kiwi berry.

The farm has become one of the largest and most modern farms in the UK with a third generation of the family; George’s sons Richard and Nicholas, now a vital part of the ever-growing business.

Withers Farm grow strawberries and blueberries from June to October and kiwi berries from August to September.
