About BerryWorld Varieties
Agroberries with BerryWorld Group within its portfolio is a leading soft fruit marketing company, supplying fresh berries on a global scale to supermarkets and food service businesses. BerryWorld Varieties are a division of Agroberries/BerryWorld Group responsible for managing the group’s breeding programs and the plant supply requirements of our soft fruit growers around the world.
Job Purpose
- Primary technical contact between our breeding program and BWV International Propagators.
- Manage communication between growers and breeders, divided per variety, and inform growers about upcoming trials.
- Long-term planning of high-health plant material requirements, including monitoring the growth and development of this material.
- Oversight and management of the laboratory, including a sound understanding of lab procedures.
- Ensure full traceability from the top of the pyramid to the final customer.
- Support and advise on the long-term planning and introduction of beneficial new varieties. Assist in selecting the most suitable varieties for each site, and ensure that the best agronomic practices are implemented.
- Attend breeders’ meetings and events, providing follow-up reports for internal use and grower distribution where appropriate.
- Design, initiate, and organise varietal trials.
- Provide technical and agronomic support to growers to help them meet customer plant quality requirements.
Key accountabilities
Seasonal Activities
- Coordinate with breeders and internal/external stakeholders to generate useful data.
- Organise propagator and grower trials, and present results in a way that supports year-on-year improvements.
- Digitalise product information and ensure traceability from the top of the pyramid.
Weekly Activities
- Maintain alignment between international propagators and high-health facilities.
- Monitor and document all actions within the high-health facilities.
- Visit growers as needed to assess factors affecting supply and recommend improvements.
- Manage troubleshooting and issue resolution by identifying and implementing solutions.
Long Term Planning Activities
- Participate in long-term planning discussions with breeders.
- Support growers in developing 3- and 5-year plans focused on all varieties within the product portfolio.
- Utilise a Supplier Scorecard to improve grower operations, with emphasis on best practices and crop quality.

Qualifications / knowledge & experience
Qualifications & experience
- Experience in a nursery or high-health environment.
- Understanding of both grower and nursery mindsets.
- Knowledge of horticultural crops.
- Proficient in English (spoken and written).
Specific knowledge, experience & skills
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills; experienced in working with and interpreting data.
- Proven time management skills; accustomed to working under pressure and meeting time-critical deadlines.
- Demonstrates a resilient and flexible working style; structured and solution-oriented.
- Strong IT skills, highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience with accounting software is an advantage.
Location
This position is based in our Dutch office in Made, The Netherlands. As part of an international team, you’ll work closely with colleagues across the BerryWorld Group while enjoying a central location within one of Europe’s key soft fruit growing regions. Regular international travel will also be required.
Travel
Travel to customers/suppliers internationally will be required, including new territories all over the world.
